Erciş Municipality Co-Mayors Met with the Press

The Co-Mayors of Erciş Municipality met with the press at Emrah and Selvi Tea Garden in the district to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the ongoing works, planned projects, and the priority issues of the district. 
During the meeting, which took place in a friendly atmosphere, the questions posed by journalists were answered one by one, and mutual exchanges of views were held.
Metropolitan Law Negatively Affects Services
One of the main topics discussed at the meeting was the effects of the Metropolitan Law on district municipalities. The Co-Mayors stated that the water and transportation revenues collected from the people of Erciş are transferred to Van Metropolitan Municipality, but these resources do not adequately return as services to Erciş. It was noted that the approximately 100-kilometer distance between Erciş and Van complicates the timely and healthy execution of services, emphasizing that the current Metropolitan Law creates significant problems, especially in the districts.
Asphalt Works Will Accelerate
It was announced at the meeting that road works have been accelerated with the reactivation of Erciş Municipality's asphalt plant. The Co-Mayors expressed that the planned asphalt works throughout the district are aimed to be completed before winter, provided that weather conditions are favorable.
Services in Rural Neighborhoods Are Closely Monitored
The waste collection services in rural neighborhoods, frequently mentioned by citizens, were also among the agenda items of the meeting. The municipal administration stated that necessary planning has been made in this regard and that efforts are ongoing to carry out waste collection services more regularly and timely.
