Mandatory statement regarding the service areas of Van Metropolitan Municipality and the budget allocated to Van Metropolitan Municipality for Erciş
As Erciş Municipality, we have carried out a landscaping project in the median of Vanyolu Avenue, which is under the responsibility of Van Metropolitan Municipality, in response to the need for environmental regulation and the demands of our citizens. Although this area belongs to the Metropolitan Municipality, we had to implement this project with teams affiliated with our municipality due to the lack of any maintenance or regulation for a long time.
Despite repeated requests throughout the summer, the sending of flowers has been continuously postponed, and only 7,000 flowers were sent most recently, with the planting of these flowers also carried out by our Parks and Gardens Directorate teams. However, recently, the Secretary General of Van Metropolitan Municipality officially informed our relevant directorate that no more flowers would be sent.
Similarly, many important points under the responsibility of Van Metropolitan Municipality, such as Zeylan Avenue, Kışla Avenue, Vanyolu Avenue, Hospital Avenue, and Sahilyolu, have not received park area, restroom repair, maintenance, and cleaning services for a long time.
"Despite all these disruptions, approximately 59 million TL has been allocated to Van Metropolitan Municipality for services to be provided to Erciş this month alone. It is unacceptable that sufficient services are not provided to our district despite such a high budget. We clearly state that; the access of the people of Erciş to services has either been consciously restricted or completely halted by the current management approach."
The approach of Van Metropolitan Municipality negatively affects the quality of life of our citizens; it is incompatible with the understanding of local governance and the ethics of public service. As Erciş Municipality, we believe that public resources should be used fairly, equally, and in a people-centered manner; we invite Van Metropolitan Municipality to fulfill its responsibilities and to serve the people of Erciş.
Our citizens should know that; despite all material impossibilities, we will continue to produce services and work for Erciş under all circumstances.
